Microsoft will be present at the E3 2018 and may present a very special Xbox controller at the show. This is aimed at players who have to dispense with a classic Xbox controller due to disabilities or use it only to a limited extent. The input device shows up on a leaked picture.
In the past, Microsoft has often started initiatives that helped with inclusion and accessibility. In this context, games and other services of the company were also made accessible to people who have to live with disabilities and limitations for different reasons.
A new Xbox controller designed for people with physical disabilities or restrictions seems to be in the same vein. The input device has not been officially announced so far, but a leak so close to the E3 2018 made for a meaningful hint. The Twitter user “h0x0d” provided an image for viewing, which you will find below.
While no information has yet been received on how the new controller works in detail, the picture creates at least some inkling. The different buttons can be seen and the sticks are probably simulated with large touch surfaces. The individual keys and input fields should be programmable. And it also looks like there’s a USB port and a 3.5mm audio jack on the left side.
Microsoft insider Jez Corden adds that the controller is designed to give players with physical disabilities a better Xbox experience. More details will probably be found in the context of the E3 2018, which will be launched in a few weeks’ time.
