“Rage 2” can be played on the two upgrade consoles PS4 Pro and Xbox One X. You should not expect a 4K resolution on both systems.
“Rage 2” is nearing completion. The new Bethesda title, which is being developed by id Software, is due for release in May this year for consoles and PCs. Shortly before the launch, the editors of hardcore gamers talked to the responsible studio director Tim Willits and questioned, among other things, the performance of “Rage 2” on the two consoles PS4 Pro and Xbox One X.
Owners of this upgrade hardware should therefore not expect it to bring “Rage 2” to a 4K resolution. Instead, the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X only achieved a resolution of 1080p. However, there are advantages in terms of the frame rate, which is significantly higher when compared with the standard consoles. Instead of 30 FPS, 60 FPS are achieved. The corresponding excerpt from the interview:
Can you talk about the improvements on the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X?
“To make it easy. On the extended consoles it runs with 1080p / 60 FPS. On the basic hardware it runs at 30 FPS. On the PC it is open. In the case of the extended consoles, we have set the speed above 4K. “
While higher resolutions are typically achieved on the Xbox One X, “Rage 2” for PS4 Pro owners in the recent past is not the first game that only runs on the upgrade hardware at 1080p. The new consoles also seem to be reaching their limits, while it remains unclear when the PS5 and Xbox Scarlett will be available.
Post-launch content planned
In the same interview, Willits emphasized that there should be post-launch content for “Rage 2”. This applies to both free and paid content. But the plans were not really worked out yet. “We’re really trying to figure out what the players want. There are plans, but nothing definitive, “he said.
“Rage 2” will be released on May 14, 2019 for PC, Xbox One and PS4.
