Currently running “Fortnite: Battle Royale” on the Xbox One X still in a resolution of 1800p at 60 FPS. Epic Games will soon be adjusting that.
The shooter “Fortnite: Battle Royale” is currently on the Xbox One X in a resolution of 1800p at 60 frames per second (FPS) playable. The responsible studio will provide an adaptation here shortly.
For example, a presentation at GDC 2018 indicated that they were aiming for full 4K (2160p) support. However, this will not be native 4K. To meet the 60 FPS, Epic Games uses a “Dynamic Resolution Scaler” that helps keep the frame rate stable.
In addition, consoles use so-called Temporal Anti-Aliasing Upsample (TAAU). This allows frame buffers to be reconstructed so that resolution changes are hidden. So if the Xbox One X is aiming for a dynamic resolution of 65 percent, the rendering resolution is 2080 × 1170, but with TAAU it can be scaled up to 3200 × 1800. When the optimization is exactly integrated into the game, is still open.
