In a recent interview, Tymon Smektala, lead game designer behind Techland’s “Dying Light 2,” talked about the different stages of development of the infected.
The zombie action game “Dying Light 2” is under development at Techland, even though it has been quite quiet around the game in recent months. But lead game designer Tymon Smektala talked about the lifecycle of the undead in a recent interview with GamesRadar.
The different stages of the evolution of the infected
Thus, the infected will go through several stages that players will experience firsthand. It starts with the so-called “Viral”, followed by the “Biters”, the “Degenerates” and the “Volatiles”.
“The infected start as a viral, someone who has just been bitten and infected, which is why they still show signs of humanity. At this point they are very fast, very dangerous and they avoid the sun at all costs. After some time at this stage, they turn into something we call Biter, which are your usual zombies; slow-moving infected people trying to grab, infect, or eat you. However, sunlight is dangerous to them and they are not as fast and agile as the virals. “
If the Biters are exposed to UV radiation too long, they turn into degenerates, which are much weaker than the remaining undead. Visually, they will be different from the rest in that they cut off meat from their bodies. Nevertheless, they should not be underestimated, as they too can be dangerous if you are already in trouble. Furthermore, Smektala said:
“And, of course, there is another path of evolution for those infected, turning them into the volatiles, who are the most dangerous and extreme hunters of the night. When you see them, you just have to run. You can not fight these guys because they’re going to kill you. “
“Dying Light 2” will be released later this year for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and the PC. A specific date has not yet been revealed.
